LOVE VS. AGE: the impact of age difference
Madonna and Michael Douglas have something in common: the love for a younger partner. The question is: are these relationships sustainable? Do they survive rough storms and heavy discussions? Because this age difference seems to bring some risks and is a younger woman worth this adventure?
A young spirit
Most people (male ànd female) say not to have any problems with age differences of more than 15 years. Some of the men even pretend that this age difference has many advantages and has a positive effect on their relationship. “The younger one learns so much from the wisdom of life of the older one, while he (or she) himself keeps his spirit alive and kicking!
The difference of where you are in your life may cause some struggles. Because when a woman turns 37 and starts to think that it is finally time for her to have kids, this may be a problem for her 55-year old husband. At that moment, you’re not on the same page because your lives differ. The only way to cope with this difficulty is talking. A good conversation clears most troubled waters.
Starting a relationship with a much younger partner is, despite emancipation, a guy’s thing and the explanation for that may be biological. Because a man’s fertility goes on much longer than a woman’s. Nowadays we often want to be smarter than mother nature with fertility programs, plastic surgery etc. But deep down, it’s still in our behavior.
Another good reason is that women have the tendency to be more careful and will not quickly embark on that adventure ship. Men, especially when they become a little bit older, feel like they have to live their lives to the fullest and enjoy it now.
Love conquers all
If you really believe in your relationship, even though the age difference causes some problems, go for it! Sometimes personalities match so well, that other influences are to be neglected. Because in the end, it’s your happiness, your life, your love. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can not do.
